The journey of One.
I often wonder what I would tell my daughter,
If she was at my age,
and I were to impart my "fatherly" wisdom her way.
often laugh at the thought,
Because hun,
I'm sure you feel your life is a mess now,
But so was mine.
I promise you're better off than I was.
Yet I survived.
No I more than survived,
I thrived..
See?
At 20 my life fell apart.
21 I was at a peak, the world was my oyster.
24 I had an income that surpassed most Drs.
25 I lost what I thought was everything,
27 I lost the rest.
29 I jumped into a mess,
30 I lost myself.
32 I thought I had it all rebuilt,
33 had to do it all over..
34 I have all of this behind me.
I’ve hit another breaking point.
Yet with it all I have become the strongest I’ve ever been.
The weight of everything has come full circle.
I have learned that
It’s impossible to look forward while looking back,
And it’s also strength to let yourself crash.
Because through weakness becomes strength.
I am strong because I am weak.
I am whole because I have been broken.
I stand because I have fallen.
I can speak because my voice had been taken from me.
I’m true because I have lied.
I live as I have died.
The person you see before you,
The person you admire,
Look up to.
Is am product of life’s hardest attacks.
I chose to rise out of the dust,
After I have fallen.
My benchmark for life,
Has been set at greatness,
Not because I was told to set it there,
But because at my greatest limit testing,
When I was stretched to the furthest most typically could go,
I was stretched some more,
It kept going until,
I learned for myself,
That I am limitless.
I choose not to stay broken.
I choose to stay growing,
To never let anything keep me down.
I chose to keep the bar set high.
See?
In the end,
You are the only one who can determine,
That first and foremost:
Only You know how you will respond to life's hardest obstacles.
You are the only one You can rely on.
Truly.
In the end,
Doesn't matter who said they'd always be there,
It's just you.
People tend to follow their own selfish paths.
Let them.
Bc as you will figure it,
To win at life,
Is to beat yourself.
Yet remember,
There are a precious few who will.
Show up for you.
Cherish them,
Give to them, as they will give to you,
Don't take them for granted,
as they are a priceless treasure to have.
Also, Never give up on love,
or loving those to whom you invested into,
even if they don't deserve it, they did at one point,
It just doesn't mean you have to keep giving until you have nothing left..
So my dearest love.
I pray that you may always seek your own inner strength.
This strength you've worked so hard to come into,
and finally,
Always remember this:
Your Daddy will always do his best to show up for you.
As mine has always done for me.
You are my little person,
no matter how old.
I will always love you.
To this end,
I impart some of my wisdom.
Love you baby girl.
